7th Republic Day Heritage Ride - Kailasanathar Temple, Kanchipuram

On the occasion of 70th Republic Day a ride was organised to Kailasanathar Temple , Kanchipuram on Sunday, 27th January 2019. Coming under ASI Chennai Circle the Kailasanathar Temple is one of the biggest sand stone temple in the world and one of the few temples with pure contribution of Pallava Kings. The temple speaks volumes of architectural beauty of the Pallavas. All along the circumambulatory passage of the temple, one will be impressed by the pillar elements with lion on the base with fiery eyes and facial expressions. The temple was commissioned in 685 - 705 AD by Pallava King Narasimhavarman-II commonly known as Rajasimha.

Earlier in the morning the ride was flagged off from Probikers OMR by Mr. Ennarasu Karunesan CEO Adani Ports. Around 50 Cycling enthusiast took part in the ride which included a visit to the Goshala at Eraiyur run by New Life Mission Charitable Trust. After spending some time at the Goshala, the riders reached the finish point at Kanchipuram. The ride came to an end with a brief visit to the temple premises followed by Medal Ceremony and Swachh Bharath Pledge, while return transportion for all was arranged by vehicles to the starting location
